Election night 2008 in Madrid was full of buzz and festivity. There were at least three « formal » events organized : one party arranged by the U.S. Embassy at the Casa de América; another by the Republican party at Hard Rock Café and, finally, the Democrats Abroad shindig.
In the party held by Democrats Abroad, the line to get in went around the block, the press were pressed up against the side entrance, expectant for their passes and the chance to be the first to interview, film, shoot and see how the voting and the party unfolded. Expectancy was high, and the party was over 2,000 people strong by 1 a.m., the doors having opened at 11 p.m.
